Numbers activity with Post-its

I always love an activity or game through which a toddler learns. It’s the best learning technique for their age. J is 28 months now and knows his numbers. This activity helps him brush up on his numbers and his matching skills.

The setup for this activity is pretty simple, you will find everything you need around your home.

  • Post-its
  • Ziploc bags (preferably sandwich bags)
  • Tape
  • Pen

Write down numbers 1 through 10 on the powt-its. I wrote every number thrice to fill the wall. I also wrote the numbers on some construction paper and stuck it on the Ziploc bags. Tape these bags to the wall as shown. Now randomly stick the post-its to the walls around your toddler’s height.

If the setup takes more time than our normal everyday activities, I try to do it while J naps. He normally gets very excited when he has a surprise activity when he asks up! That’s his excited face in the first picture.

I asked J to drop the post-its in the Ziploc bags with the matching numbers.. He had so much fun and almost finished the whole wall of numbers. While he does the activity, I try to go over the numbers with him again and guide him when he gets confused.

Your toddler does not have to finish the whole activity at once.. If he wantsG to move on to something else let him do so and he will come back and finish it when he wants. The important thing is for him to learn add he goes.
