Since J turned 2, we have been trying to do some Bible lessons with him. We are staying with the creation story. We focus on one creation Day a week, which means the first week we will be teaching J Day1 of the Creation story -Day and Night.
Art activity:
We are trying to teach the toddler the concept of Day and Night. The easiest way is for them to equate it to write and black.
So I placed his watercolors in front of him with just the black color open. While he was painting with the black, I talked about night being dark and black. And we also tried to include the words ‘Day’ and ‘Night’ throughout add the day went on.
Sensory/motor skills
I set up this very simple activity for those tiny hands. My toddler loves stickers just like any other, so I used post-its for this one. I colored one side of the post-its black, and stick them in line on a white paper. While J removed the post-its, he saw the white paper underneath. Black = night, white = day.
We did this activity once on Wednesday and one on Friday. The point of these activities at the age of 2 is not for J to remember these for the rest of their lives but to start a foundation for us to build upon add he grows up.
I hope these activities are a simple way to start something small, yet worthwhile for your toddler’s time.
