It’s week 4 and we are talking about Creation Day 4 with J. In other words, we will be talking about God creating the Sun, Moon and stars. This week was full of art projects for us.
Dialogue you can repeat to your toddler everyday this week:
Question: Who made the Sun, moon and stars?
Toddler: God. (God made the Sun, Moon and stars – for older toddlers)
Art projects
Monday – painting
I taped down a white paper to his table and put another strip right down the middle. On one side I marked a circle as the shape of the Sun with the masking tape, on the other side I marked a circle for the moon and several smaller dots as stars with the masking tape as well.
On one side I asked J to color with black. He went to town with the paint! And I’m the other side, he colored blue and green, and I made some mountains with brown. After this we read the creation story from his toddler Bible while the paint dried.
After the paint dried we removed the taped circles and dots and identified the Sun, Moon and stars. We talked about God creating them and giving the stars special names.
Wednesday & Thursday – craft activity
This activity is based on this Pinterest post. Ours might look like a pinterest fail, but in our defense ours is the toddler’s version 😉
On Wednesday morning we painted the paper plates – one black and one yellow. We talked about God creating the Sun, the big yellow circle and the moon. And on Thursday we glued the half circles and some stars on the border.
The main thing to remember in any activity we do is to keep the conversation going. Keep talking about God’s creation to your toddler throughout the activity and any opportunity you get.
