Textures Peek-a-boo with Wipes lids

Does your baby/toddler ceaselessly open your wipes lids and take every single wipe out of the box? Then this activity is perfect for your little.

Things you need:

  • Cardboard cut to required size
  • Chart paper (not absolutely necessary)
  • Wipes lids (I stored them after their actual use over time, with this activity in mind)
  • Textures samples from around the house (Most of my textures were from my Indian sarees and churidhar. I used some from his old bibs too)
I also found some texture swatches on Amazon like this one.

Setup

I cut the chart paper to the size of the cardboard I needed. Paste the paper onto the cardboard. Draw a thin outline of the lid on each of the swatches you have. Stick the texture swatches on the chart paper. In the end, paste the lids on the swatches. And that’s the whole setup!

The activity

My little guy likes to open the lids and just played around. I let him explore and see for himself what was inside as he opened them.

I could see that he loved to open and see something every time he opened a lid. He played/felt each texture as he opened. I also noticed he likes the bumpy textures better as he opened those lids more often than the others.

We even used this for our road trip which kept him entertained for a good while.
