My almost 13-month old loves messy play, so I decided to incorporate more paint activities in his week. Warning: It could get real messy. But that is how babies learn and they have so much time doing it!
Setup:
You will need the following for this activity:
- Chart paper
- Washable paints for kids.
- Any kind of wooden blocks. We used this.
- I added his favorite toy. (So he can )
Some exploration before the actual activity:
Well, I figured baby J would love to explore what was kept before him. He sure did explore, more like poured some paint directly on the chart! I let him play a little bit like he wants to, and then just flipped the paper.
Let’s paint!
I showed him a couple of times how to dip a block in one color and make a print on the paper. The blocks were of different shapes, so we could get different prints out of the paints.
J dipped a block in the paint, mixed it really well and smudged it all over the paper. And that’s fine. He enjoyed it and created lots of beautiful smudges all over the paper.
The final product
He also dipped his favorite toy in the colors in the end, thus explaining the tire marks on the paper. There was no keepsake kind of image at the end, but it still looked very colorful.
It is a messy activity!
This is an activity in which your baby is bound to get messy! You WILL spend a lot of time cleaning him and the surroundings after the activity (proof is in the pictures). But we will be DEFINITELY doing this activity again because J loved it so very much.
