This is a great activity for developing your toddler’s cognitive motor skills. And all you need are things you mostly will have at home.
You will need the following for this activity:
- An egg carton
- Colored craft sticks. I got these in the Dollar store.
- Washable kid paint. I got it from Amazon.
I flipped the egg carton and painted the humps with different colors. I did not want to overwhelm with a lot of colors, so I kept it to 4 or 5 colors. I might redo the activity with lesser colors, so he can concentrate on each color. I slit holes just wide enough for the craft sticks to get through.
My little had a lot of fun figuring out how to insert it first. After he got comfortable with inserting the craft sticks, I started pointing to him the colors and how to match them with the carton. Honestly, I did not expect him to match every single time, and he did not. And that’s OK.
Now he keeps wanting to do this activity every day by bringing me the carton. It is too cute! He can say ‘pupul’ now, that is purple by the way..
