We are on our Week 6 of our toddler ‘curriculum’. And this week is all about FAITH. As a mom, my main desire and prayer will be that my boys will grow up to know the Lord and be men of Faith. So this week, our activities were based on the stories of Faithfulness straight from the Bible. We love using The Good Book company during our Bible story time. They have the best illustrated books for toddlers, and the writing is such that the Bible stories are perfectly adapted for the Littles, with all the rhymes that my toddler loves. Our books for the week were:
- Daniel and the very Hungry Lions
- Noah and the very big boat
- David and the very big giant
- Jesus storybook Bible, you have all the above stories in this book, and we read above more men and women of Faith from this Bible throughout this week.
DOT PAINTING RAINBOW WITH QTIPS -Noah and the big ark
We read the book from the the Good book company and we talked about how God has given us everything that He said He would – food, house, toys and clothes. That is His faithfulness to us, so when God says He will or won’t do something, He will keep His promises.
For our activity, I printed out this rainbow activity from Pinterest. I took some finger paints on cups and places a Qtip in each cup. We worked on dipping the Qtip and getting the dots in line. While he did the activity, we repeated how God always does what He says, and we can remember that whenever we see the rainbow in the sky.
HANDPRINT LION CRAFT -Daniel In the lion’s den
Daniel’s story is a constant reminder that when we are faithful to God, He will help us in time of need. It was a great story to emphasize the importance of praying like Daniel did. I explained that praying can be an example of faithfulness and how J can practice it every single day.
I painted J’s hands with yellow, orange and red fingerpaints. And made a couple of hand prints as a circle. We also glued a set of eyes on the circles, and made lions. As we did the activity, we recounted Daniel’s story and his faithfulness to God as he prayed everyday to him and God saved him from the lions.
JIGSAW PUZZLE – David and Goliath
We read David and Goliath’s story and how David was faithful (a good boy) when he was little and watching over sheep, and God helped him when he fought Goliath.
For the activity, I found this jigsaw puzzle from Pinterest. I printed and laminated 2 copies, used one as the mat and cut the other along the dotted lines. J loves puzzles, so he enjoyed this one. And we went over the story of David being a shepherd before he became a great big king.
FEED ‘ACTS OF FAITHFULNESS’ TO ODIE
This is such a great way to teach your toddler right across from the wrong. And it includes so many pictures to grab the toddler’s attention. You can check out this post to see how we did this activity with J.
MIXING COLORS WITH DROPPER – FAITH IN THE TRUTH
I found these cool truth cards on Pinterest, which helps teach kids about believing in the Truth. The truth cards start out as mixing colors to create a new color. Each time you mix blue and yellow, you will always get green. When u mix blue and orange you will always get purple. We can give examples of sun always rising in the East for bigger kids. Just as the color mixing will always result in the same result a in the printout, we can believe that God is right next to us even when we can’t see Him. He will always be faithful to us and we can thank Him for always being with us.
